By Today when i come to check out my blog then i see my dashboard message says WordPress 2.8.6 avaable.
Then i visit WordPress and see what’s new to update it. Then i see this is another Security release.
So why you need to update:
Everyone knows that WordPress is great blogging platform rather then Blogger or Joomla. In this relase they fixed a security problem that can be exploited by registered, logged in users who have posting privileges.
And The second problem, discovered by Dawid Golunski, is an issue with sanitizing uploaded file names that can be exploited in certain Apache configurations.

If you want to auto update simply backup your database and update it. Or manually download it and upload it.
